The Folkstone Half-Marathon is an excellent and well organised race and a welcome addition to the racing calendar.
Many other runners think so too.
The scenic and relatively flat course takes you along the coast from Folkestone to Hythe and back, but make sure you save some energy for the sting in the tale, a pretty steep hill in the last mile. Just about leaves you with enough time to rally yourself for a sprint finish along the clifftop outside the Grand Hotel
I made a weekend of it and stayed as Alkham Court – a superb award winning B&B just a few miles outside the town with beautiful views over the Kent Downs.
Both race and accommodation are highly recommended.
